The pub
Weatherboarded pub right on the shingle beach off Island Wall, on this spot since the 1850s, with outside seating looking across the estuary to the Isle of Sheppey. Ask for plastic glasses to take drinks onto the beach, and expect live music at weekends. It may close early on quieter winter weekdays.
Eating here
The pub on the shingle of Whitstable beach, on this spot since the 1850s, known for sunset views, fish and chips, oysters and live music. The kitchen closes earlier than the bar, so plan to eat by 4pm on most days.
